Thaksin not happy with Samak's threats

Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was worried about Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej's aggressive stance while dealing with the protesters at Makawan Rangsan Bridge, a source close to Thaksin said on Saturday.

Samak announced in a special television programe that the government may use forces to disperse the protesters.

"Thaksin was concerned (about Samak's stance) but he can't do anything," the source said.

The source said after Thaksin had met Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanonda on Thursday at the funeral of  mother of Army chief Anupong Paochinda, he

ordered People Power Party's members not to make any move or counter the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) who lead the protest.

Thaksin believed the protest may not be long and ends soon because the middle class people  did not support the protest and he also defused the political time bombs of the government such as Jakrapob Penkair's controversy remarks and attempts to rewrite charter.

Last week PM's Office Minister Jakrapob resigned after police decided to press charge of of lese majeste against him. The motion of charter amendment was dropped due to insufficient support.

"But Samak's decision to use forces, which opposite to what Thaksin thought, may lead to violence," the source quoted Thaksin as saying.
