Billed as a 'comprehensive grand showcase of the very best products made in Thailand', this will be the 21st edition of the annual event. This year's exhibition will cover 47,000 square metres in Halls 1-8 at Impact Muang Thong Thani and feature as many as 2,500 exhibition booths.
DEP director-general Rachane Potjanasuntorn said "Made in Thailand" was by far one of its most significant events of the year and a great opportunity for Thai entrepreneurs to introduce new products and services and engage in direct negotiations with potential buyers.
Last year, Thailand generated more than Bt5.2 trillion in export income, and that figure is expected to increase more than 12.5 per cent this year.
Rachane said the success of the "Made in Thailand" exhibitions had been phenomenal. Last year, the event drew 354,743 international visitors, especially from Asean and neighbouring countries, a big increase from 220,000 international visitors in 2006. The exhibition attracts people seeking high-quality, reasonably priced consumer products and entrepreneurs looking for direct contact with Thai manufacturers. The sales revenue from last year's show, both retail and trade, is estimated to have been in the hundreds of millions of baht.
"Our comprehensive product display covers various categories, including fashion clothing, textiles, leather goods, jewellery, accessories, food and beverages, furniture and home-decorative items, automotive accessories and parts, tools, electrical and electronic appliances, health and beauty products, Otop products and tourism and hospitality. In short, it's a one-stop shopping experience for the very best Thailand has to offer," Rachane said.
