Is the PAD worried about possible
violence at their rally?
Yes, we do worry about possible violence against our political movement. We don't want anyone to be injured or die at our gathering.
What is the PAD's strategy to
prevent it?
We will not ignite the violence for sure. We will not be the one that attacks the opposition group. We will be strict on our non-violence strategy. But it does not mean we will sit still if we face violence. We have a basic right to protect ourselves.
What actual measures will you take?
Our guards will check everyone who enters the gathering to ensure they are not carrying weapons. Our guards will wear helmets to prevent possible attacks. We will also prepare wooden boards to prevent stone attacks from them.
How do you respond to those who say the PAD is the cause of violence?
I would say they have misunderstood the PAD, which is a non-violent group and we did not start the rally out of emotion. The PAD decided to organise the rally because all other ways of expressing opinions have failed to receive a proper response from the government.
Do you think Sunday's violence
will happen again?
It depends on the government's policy towards our movement.
