Airlines offer special packages to woo customers

Many airlines have introduced special promotions to convince cost-conscious consumers to cast off for carefree locales.



Bangkok Airways has joined American Express in offering "1-For-1-Flights" until June 30.

Amex cardholders who buy Bangkok Airways tickets can enjoy "buy one get one free" air tickets, hotel rooms (1-For-1-Lodging) and dining.

This promotion is hoped to boost traffic on both local and foreign routes.

The airline inaugurated a Bangkok-Macao service on May 4.

Bangkok Airways together with its Cambodian affiliate Siem Reap Airways is selling Mekong Heritage tour packages connecting Samui, Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Phuket, Sukhothai, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Pukam, Rangoon, Tawai, Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Min City.

Thai AirAsia recently kicked off a free ticket campaign. Consumers using an AirAsia credit card will earn one reward point for every Bt200 charged. Those who accumulate 750 reward points will get one local air ticket from AirAsia.

For passengers who want to travel with more baggage, AirAsia lets them to do so for a charge. Those booking on the Internet will be charged Bt30 apiece, while passengers who get ticketed at a check-in counter will be charged Bt50 per baggage.

On Sunday, Thai AirAsia is raising its fuel charge for foreign flights by Bt100-Bt150 from Bt500-Bt600.

Thai Airways International has recently joined Krungthai Card in issuing four credit cards, namely KTC-Royal Orchid Plus Via Infinite, KTC-Royal Orchid Plus Visa Platinum, KTC-Royal Orchid Plus Titanium MasterCard, and KTC-Royal Orchid Plus JCB.

The special features of these cards is no annual fee forever and faster collection of reward points with no expiration date. Every Bt20 spent on the KTC-Royal Orchid Plus cards gets the cardholder one reward point. Cardholders will benefit from privilege to be given by business allies in the tourism industry.

THAI has recently raised fuel charge for both local and international flights from Bt650 to Bt750.

One-Two-Go is enticing customers to take advantage of its special vacation packages during these times of high fuel prices.

Adding Bt99 to a roundtrip ticket from Bangkok to Chiang Mai or Phuket will get the traveller a free room in a three- to four-star hotel plus breakfast. The airline has recently broadened this campaign to Chiang Rai, Surat Thani, Hat Yai and Nakhon Si Thammarat.
