Piyawat Kingket, chief of the DSI's Bureau for Special Criminal Cases, said yesterday that Julaporn Ritthapai, 59, had reportedly conspired with another suspect Ekkarin Khamsri, who had been arrested earlier and died while being detained in Ratchaburi Prison, to lure poor villagers in Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram and Phetchaburi into a scam to receive billions of baht from abroad.

Presenting them with several 500 millioneuro bills of exchange, the duo told the villagers they must first invest Bt10,000 into the scheme in order to get the funding, he said.
