A talk of 'head'

I presume you all have heard of Khun Krissana Chairat, the TV anchor who has been restricted to a wheelchair since he was involved a car accident. He was in the news last year when he fell head over heels with a colleague at The Nation and married her. Now he is making headlines again; this time it says, "Such a heady feeling".

You must be able to guess the meaning of "to be head over heels" which I use to describe Khun Krissana in the above paragraph; yes, the meaning of this expression is "to be completely in love".

Francis never has any luck with his girlfriends. Now he appears to be head over heels about Nancy; I wish him good luck this time.

The adjective 'heady', which appeared in the headline, describes that something makes one feel excited and full of energy. Surely, Krissana is heady about the prospect of being a father; a dream come true.

It was a heady experience for the students to join the archeologist team working on the newly found excavation site.

Kenny realized that his heady days as a young adventurous explorer are now over.

People who don't realise what's going on around them, or who are not aware of the situation or facts, are said to have their head in the clouds.

Nobody understands why Crawford still has his head in the clouds when every report shows the massive drop in our sales volume.

Who knows, maybe Crawford keeps a cool head or keeps his head; and stays calm in a difficult situation.

So far there have been no real problems yet. Just keep your head.

On the other hand, if you lose your head, you panic.

The villagers lost their heads completely when the Tsunami warning was issued.

And the last expression for today, "to keep one's head above water", means that someone is just able to survive financial problems.

Many people were lucky to keep their heads above water in the last economic crash.
