Sansiri follows new skytrain route

Sansiri has launched Hive Taksin and Hive Sukhumvit 65 condominium projects having a combined value of Bt1.9 billion, to attract buyers who want to live near the extended sections of the Skytrain.

President Srettha Thavisin said that due to the extended train service, a company survey shows rising demand among young adults for condominiums in the outer areas of Bangkok.

They seek cheaper residential units combined with travelling convenience.

The research department of subsidiary Plus Property reported that on the Thon Buri side of Bangkok, 1,434 new condominium units were launched in the first half of 2007 against 5,423 units in the second half, showing a higher concentration in the area.

No fewer than 1,700 new units are expected to be rolled out this year, as buyers are looking for units ahead of the expansion of the Skytrain service from Taksin Bridge to Thon Buri.

Likewise, the outer area of Sukhumvit is drawing more interest from buyers due to the extended service from On Nut. In the first half of 2007, from Soi Thong Lor outwards, 1,508 new units were launched against 1,643 units in the second half.

It is estimated that 3,100 new units will be launched this year.

Srettha said demand for condominiums with selling prices between Bt80,000-Bt100,000 per square metre matches Sansiri's strategy this year.

"High oil prices and a sharp increase in construction material prices are causing a psychological problem, but this will not affect our ongoing projects as construction costs are locked in. On the contrary, this encourages buyers to make a decision in a quicker manner," he said.
