Chang Kwan Chun, managing director of Mantech Communications, the retail-business-management arm of Thai Samsung, believes the system can increase sales opportunities for the South Korean consumer electronics giant by 30 per cent.
Under the collaboration, AIS will provide specially designed SIM cards to Samsung sales representatives around the country. These will enable them to submit real-time sales data, sales reports and sales-volume reviews and place new orders, all in the form of SMS messages from their mobile phones, on a daily basis.
The information will enable Thai Samsung to forecast product demand better and effectively manage its inventory costs and supply chain, in response to rapidly changing market situations.
The move also reflects AIS's efforts to tap the corporate market with its wireless solutions. It currently has 7,000 corporate customers.
Chun said the new mobile application resulted from intense competition, which was driving many companies to manage their enterprises with the highest possible efficiency.
Suchitra Wanatanakul, channel-sales information controller at Thai Samsung, said the basic SIM-card technology meant the new system was easy for all sales representatives to use.
