Thaksin wants Jakrapob to take responsibility: Chavalit

Former prime minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh on Tuesday disclosed that Thaksin Shinawatra wants PM's Office Minister Jakrapob Penkair to be responsible for his controversial remarks deemed offensive to the monarchy.

Chavalit said he had met former prime minister Thaksin and discussed the issue and Thaksin was concerned over what Jakrapob had said.

"Thaksin has a lot of concern over what Jakrapob has said," Chavalit said.

"I remembered Thaksin saying that Jakrapob must be responsible over this and that Jakrapob may consisder on what to do next."

Chavalit denied that he would assist Jakrapob defending the controversial remarks.

"I did not discuss becoming a mediator on Jakrapob's behalf," he said in reference to their unscheduled meeting in Nakhon Phanom on Monday.

He said Jakrapob will have to take the responsibility for his own remarks. "This is not only a concern of the military but also of every Thai citizen for any transgression against the monarchy."
