More ads, higher fees lift channel 5's income

TV Channel 5's revenue in the first quarter rose 10 per cent, because of an increase in advertising income and fees from Thai TV Global Network (TGN) satellite television.

Royal Thai Army Television chief General Kittitas Bumnejpan last Friday said its ad revenue in the first quarter was Bt330 million, up from Bt300 million in the same period last year.

Revenue for the first four months was Bt534 million.

"Thanks to the financial restructuring, and a rise in advertising by 7 per cent and income from TGN, our revenues have risen sharply," he said.

Kittitas said Channel 5's ratings also rose in the quarter.

Its popular shows boosted its share of television advertising to 20 per cent.

TV 5 ranked third after Channel 7 and Channel 3 for advertising.

The station plans to adjust its television shows mid-year after an evaluation.
