Channel 3 set to earn more

BEC World, operator of Channel 3, should see continued revenue growth in the second quarter, due to high-season spending on television advertising, predicts Kim Eng Securities (Thailand).

Kim Eng said BEC's decision to hike advertising fees for its pre-drama slots 10-20 per cent from the beginning of this month would also boost revenue.

BEC posted growth of 29 per cent in its first-quarter net profit, to Bt670 million, due to an 18-per-cent year-on-year increase in advertising revenue of Bt1.9 billion.

Another brokerage, CIMB-GK, predicts BEC will see advertising-revenue growth of 15 per cent this year, up from its previous forecast of 12 per cent.

Ayudhya Securities said the growth of BEC's advertising revenue was higher than the market average, adding that the broadcaster's income rose 18 per cent year on year, while the market fell 8 per cent.
