Jakrapob denied making lese majesty comments

PM's Office Minister Jakrapob Penkai on Thursday defended himself over the allegation that he made impropriate comments about the monarchy.

He said he did not involve the monarchy or had bad intention in the speech he made at the Foreign Correspondent's Club of Thailand that the Opposition was using as evidence to remove him from his post. He said that speech was made over a year ago and not after he assumed the ministerial post.

The minister has also been accused of abuse of power relating to his supervision of the staterun NBT Channel and his handling of the media.

Oppostion Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva said the party had gathered evidence - several speeches made by Jakrapob in several places to submit to Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej to show him that Jakropob is not suitable to helm the ministerial post that disseminate information to the public.

The Democrat Party is planning to launch the impeachment proceedings against him over the matter.
