Get ready for extreme action

Who would have thought there would be an off-road course right in the centre of Bangkok? BMW Group Thailand and Millennium Auto Group, the largest BMW dealership in Thailand, has turned a 5-rai plot of land at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 22 into an off-road test-driving track to stage its "Xplore Xdrive Xperience" promotion.

The track is designed to give potential customers a chance to test the off-road capabilities of the BMW X3 and X5 during the next three months.

Millennium Auto Group's (MAG) managing director Sunhavut Thamchuanviriya said the company was spending Bt10 million on the promotion.

"This activity is aimed at providing optimum benefits for our customers and boosting their confidence when making a purchase decision," he said. Sunhavut said as many as 2,000 people will be using the track during the next three months. Apart from Millennium customers, those who will be invited are customers of BMW brand partners such as iPod, shopping centres as well as credit card holders.

BMW Thailand president Michael Kordys said the promotion is meant to boost BMW's sales in the luxury recreational vehicle market.

"The main purpose is to provide customers and the general public an opportunity to test drive and enjoy a real driving experience and try out different functions which are exclusive to the BMW technology before making a purchase decision," he said.

Sunhavut said: "We want our customers to have a real experience with the BMW X Series models and try out the various functions to ensure that their money is well spent. When customers decide to buy a car at this price level, I can say that not many of them are given opportunities to drive in these kind of conditions."

Apart from the test track there is also a VIP lounge as well as entertainment from iPod, spa treatment, food and drinks from Fuzio catering.
