Last week the SET50 Index closed up 0.83 per cent, while the SET50 Index Futures lost 0.05 per cent.

The stock market early in the week kept rising. The energy sector was the big gainer on expectations that it would benefit from the record high oil price and the recovery of Wall Street.

Some analysts and economists believe that the US sub-prime turmoil has already bottomed out.

Volume on the Thailand Futures Exchange was 18,374 contracts representing Bt11.03 billion, of which 17,892 were for the SET50 Index Futures and 482 for SET50 Index Options. Open interest contracts as of May 8 were 21,857.
