Coalition partners set to dine and discuss charter rewrite

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej is poised to host a dinner tonight to solicit the support of his coalition partners for the charter rewrite, coalition leaders said on Wednesday.

Leaders of Chart Thai, Puea Pandin, Ruam Jai Thai Chart Pattana, Matchima Thipataya and Pracharaj parties are expected to be present.

The dinner will take place at Paisano restaurant, Soi Ton Son.

Ruam Jai leader Chettha Thanajaro will attend in his caretaker capacity as the party is in the process of electing a new leader. Chettha said he would listen to Samak's ideas before his party finalising its decision on the matter.

Chart Thai MP Kanchana Silapa-archa said her father and party leader Banharn Silapa-archa would not meet with Puea Pandin to form a common stand ahead of meeting with the People Power Party.

Kanchana said Banharn was in favour of amending the charter although he still had some reservations about certain proposals  from the PPP.
