President of Romanian professional league charged with corruption

Bucharest (dpa) - The Romanian anti-corruption prosecutors' office on Monday charged the president of the country's professional football league with corruption a Romanian news agency reported.



Dumitru Dragomir is accused of buying a piece of land for the league at an inflated price in 2001 and to have received another piece of land as a bribe.

 The former president of Romanian second division club National, Gino Iorgulescu has also been charged. Dragomir bought the land from Iorgulescu for three times the market value.
