Jakrapob denies putting charter rewrite before solving the people's well being

PM's Office Jakrapob Penkair on Tuesday dismissed the allegation that the government ignored the plight of the people because of its focus on charter rewrite.

"The government is determined to work harder on tackling the cost of living," he said, citing a Cabinet resolution to promote organic fertiliser as a way to assist the farming sector.

Jakrapob said the government did not hype up the issues relating to the constitutional changes as critics claimed. He also argued that the government could strike a balance between the charter rewrite and addressing social and economic issues.

He said the government was concerned about the predicament triggered by the charter rewrite and that it was trying to hold informal talks with opponents.

In regard to the low approval ratings for performance, he said the government needed time to deliver results as it just came into power for a mere three months.
