US Under-Secretary for International Trade Christopher Padilla discussed the issue with Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama after a US trade representative decided to keep Thailand in the list for intellectual property-right violation.

For some in the US, Thailand's decision to enforce compulsory licensing (CL) on drugs has affected some US companies.A joint committee that included drug companies was set up last year to consider the CL issue but it had not been activated yet.

However, Padilla said CL is only one of the issues regarding the priority watch list. There are many others regarding copyright, piracy and trademark and law enforcement issues.
