This is subsequent to MWG's takeover of the O2 brand late last year.

MWG is a Singapore-based start-up founded by the team responsible for O2's ground-breaking range of PDA phones. The company was established to develop and market premium, converged mobile devices.

MWG's chief executive Mark Billington said the company is committed to the Thai market, which holds huge potential. The PDA-phone market in Thailand

is growing 30 per cent to 40 per cent - the same rate as the global market .

The company aims to become a market leader with 30 per cent to 40 per cent market share. As of now, it has launched only two models - the Atom V and the Zinc II. The company expects to

sell about 500 to 600 units this year. It also plans to introduce five to six other models this year.

MWG's country manger for Thailand, Natasha Sophon-ewutiskun said the company has appointed two main distributors, UD and Victor Thailand, to help distribute the company's phone in the Thai market. Apart from that, it also appointed about 50 dealers nationwide.

Consumers can place their trust in the quality of after-sales service because MWG has taken over O2 Asia's service and warranty

obligations.
