Manchester United's Ronaldo wins Player of the Year

London (dpa) - Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award for the second year in a row.



The 23-year-old Portuguese who has scored 38 goals this season in league and cup play edged out Liverpool's Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard, Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas and Emmanuel Adebayor, and Portsmouth goalkeeper David James.

 "I feel very happy," Ronaldo said of Sunday night's award. "It is a great moment. It is an honour, a pleasure."

   Fabregas won the Young Player of the Year award.
