12 killed by dengue fever this year

The dengue fever has already killed 12 patients in the country this year.

"When compared with the same period a year earlier, the number of denguefever patients has increased by 80 per cent," Public Health Minister Chaiya Sasomsap said Monday.

From January 1 to April 19 this year, up to 10,901 people caught the dengue fever.

Last year, the dengue fever claimed 75 lives.

Chaiya instructed all public health offices across the country to seriously eradicate mosquito breeding grounds.

Mosquitoes are the carriers of the denguefever disease.
