Energy Business Department director-general Metta Banterngsook said PTT would supply the gas at market prices.

Initially, 64 tonnes will be supplied to Laos, 8 tonnes to Burma and 1,196 tonnes to Cambodia this month.

He said the gas was part of 20,000 tonnes PTT was importing this month to fill Thailand's domestic needs.

Construction talks

Industry Minister Suwit Khunkitti will meet with agencies from the Industry, Finance, Commerce and Interior ministries that are related to the construction sector next week.

Yesterday, he said the meeting would resolve obstacles in the industry, including pricing adjustments for government projects, electronic procurements and skyrocketing prices for construction materials.

The price of steel rod has nearly doubled from Bt19,000 a tonne to Bt35,000, and due to the higher costs the Thai Contractors' Association has seen its membership shrink from 3,000 to 500 in three years.

Thai Craft Market

Amarin Plaza will spend Bt10 million in the second quarter to become an integrated shopping complex for Thai handicrafts, calling itself the Thai Craft Market Zone.

Rungyos Chantapasa, vice president of Erawan Ratchaprasong, the complex's operator, said a marketing budget of Bt50 million had been set aside for the whole year, buoyed by optimism that sales revenue would grow 15 per cent this year.

Dragon Ball Z

AI (Thailand), a Thai licenser of cartoon characters, will join Japan's Toei to host Dragon Ball Z's first show in Thailand, from May 8-12 at Future Park Rangsit.

"The Power of Dragon Ball Z" is expected to increase the popularity of the animated characters, which are licensed for use in Thailand by AI, the company said.

The main characters and copyrighted items will be on display at the show.
