Thailand's largest agro-conglomerate, Charoen Pokphand Group, had earlier talked with Chery Automobile about forming a joint venture with a leading Thai car dealer.
Malaysia's official news agency Bernama reported last week that Chery Automobile plans to produce the B14 multipurpose vehicle and Tiggo sport-utility vehicle.
Its president Yin Tong Yao said this could be realised after the group signs a joint-venture agreement with Alado Corp on the rights to import, assemble and distribute Chery cars in Malaysia.
"Chery embraces the start of this cooperation as an opportunity to showcase our right-hand-drive manufacturing capabilities and to further develop our ability to better serve the customers in Malaysia and overseas through assembled models here," he said.

The Thailand Tourism Award is Thailand's "Hallmark of Excellence" - a symbol of assurance in the outstanding quality and reliability of tourism products and services offered by a particular organisation or operator.
The award categories for 2008 comprise six awards, namely the Award for Tourism Promotion and Development Organisations, Award for Communication and Public Relations Works, Awards for Tour Programmes, Awards for Tourism Attractions, Awards for Health Tourism and Awards for Tourism Accommodation.
