Chaiya changes his mind to not tender his resignation

Public Health Minister Chaiya Sasomsap on Thursday had a change of heart to cling to office instead of resigning to accept responsibility for his disqualification due to violating the five per cent cap on equity stakes.

Speaking before hundreds of supporters at his Nakhon Pathom residence, Chaiya claimed he did not commit any wrongdoing and that he would wait for the outcome of the judicial review by the Constitution Court before deciding his next move.

"Although I did inform the prime minister that I am ready to tender my resignation, this would happen on the condition of the completion of the judicial review at the Constitution Court," he said, denying about his unconditional resignation.

He dismissed speculation that Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej was trying to pressure him into resigning, saying no one could force him to quit because he did nothing wrong.
