Vehicle sales on the rise
A number of 160,785 vehicles were sold in the first three months of this year, up 16.28 per cent on year, on continued recovery in consumer confidence.
According to the data compiled by Tri Petch Isuzu Sales, in March alone, the number of vehicles sold totalled 66,107 units. In the month, vans, pick-up trucks and commercial trucks were the segments that showed the highest annualised growth rates, 48.68 per cent, 42.50 per cent, and 40.58 per cent, respectively.
In the first quarter, Toyota controlled the biggest share, with the sale of 67,012 units or 41.68 per cent of total. Trailing behind were Isuzu, 35,988 units or 22.38 per cent; and Honda, 22,437 units or 13.95 per cent.
In the quarter, 89,898 pick-up trucks were sold, up 7.41 per cent on year. A number of 52,447 passenger cars were sold, up 39.08 per cent from the same period last year, buoyed by those which can be run on gasohol E20.
