The NCCC found Chaiya to have violated Article 269 of the Constitution prohibiting Cabinet members and their spouses to own more than five per cent of equity stakes in any companies.

Chaiya failed to notify the NCCC about his wife's shares exceeding the equity cap although he later filed additional statement after the expiry of the deadline.

PM's Office Minister Jakrapob Penkair said the government remained stable inspite of the controversy involving Chaiya.

"The independent organisation does its job in pointing out the shortcoming - this is a good system of checks and balances essential for a democracy," he said.
