Cabinet OKs fertiliser import

The Cabinet has approved the allocation of the central budget of Bt300 million for the Agriculture Ministry's plan to import fertilisers.

Agriculture deputy minister Somphat Kaewpichit said on Tuesday that the Cabinet asked the ministry to talk with the Bureau of the Budget to finalise the budget amount it needs to finance the import.

Agriculture minister Somsak Prisanananthakul said before the Cabinet meeting that the ministry plans to import 300,000-400,000 tonnes of fertilisers, which would cost between Bt3 billion to Bt4 billion.

Fertiliser prices are rising in line with raw material prices.
