President Prateep Kulapalanont and his staff were stationed at the formal SME Bank Tower venue while his wife Soodchai, the managing director, donned a chef's outfit including a tall chef's hat and doled out delicious samples of their 99.31-per-cent yellowtail fish balls at the adjoining exhibition room.
This writer was absolutely impressed with the taste of these Omega-3 fish balls that have been selected for numerous local awards, including the Prime Minister's Export award in 2005 and the government's Five-star Otop Product Champion Award in 2006. "We export a lot of our product to Malaysia," Soodchai said.
Small and medium-sized enterprises such as Kejmukda are succeeding in the highly competitive processed-food business because they innovate in product development, packaging and marketing.
Kejmukda has capitalised on the recent trend for healthy foods by promoting their products as rich in Omega-3 unsaturated fats and containing almost 100-per-cent yellowtail tuna with no preservatives.
This SME has also passed rigorous Food and Drug Administration, GMP and halal certification in Thailand.
