FedEx Express opens new centre in Phuket

FedEx Express has opened a new service centre in Phuket, to provide local residents, businesses and tourists with access to faster and more reliable shipping services.

The courier company said tourist arrivals in Phuket last year numbered 5.47 million - or one-third of all tourists coming to Thailand. Its new direct-service centre will meet a rising demand in Phuket for express-package delivery services and provide access to parent company FedEx's global network.

Demand reported rising for new houses

Home-builder Four Pattana recorded first-quarter revenue of Bt132 million and as a result believes it will achieve its target of Bt550 million for the whole year.

Managing director Pramote Teerakul said there was rising demand from landowners for construction of new houses, although construction and raw-material costs were increasing.

"Landowners believe if they delay any further, they may end up paying higher construction costs, so they're deciding to go ahead, he said.
