IRP acquires 2 PET plants in Europe

Indorama Polymers Plc has completed the acquisition of two PET plants in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom after six months of negotiations, costing 56.5 million euro.

Both plants have combined capacity of 355,000 tonnes per annum.

"IRP's continued growth on a global scale has today made it the 2nd largest PET producer in Europe and we believe IRP will soon emerge as the 2nd largest PET producer in the World in a years time in 2009 when its Alabama, USA plant gets completed," said Aloke Lohia, executive chairman.
