Upbeat on phuket

Nestle (Thailand) has launched its first Movenpick ice-cream outlet in Phuket and aims to earn Bt200 million a year nationwide from the brand in the next four years.

Olivier Jakubowicz, business development manager, said the firm had high hopes for it first shop at Movenpick Resort and Spa on Karon Beach.

Movenpick is a renowned Swiss restaurant and hotel brand.

However, the firm will not yet open outlets elsewhere but will sell its products via three channels: hotels, restaurants and supermarkets.

The firm will expand its distribution through top hotels in Phuket. It will also approaching high-end restaurants and supermarkets in Bangkok and other cities.

Jakubowich said there was no direct competitor, but the firm will likely face rivalry from US-based Hagen Daz.
