Panel set up to vet judicial candidates for Constitution Court

The Senate on Friday appointed a 17-member panel to check the qualifications of four judicial candidates before recommending them for the royal appointment as judges of the Constitution Court.

The panel is expected to complete the scrutiny within 20 days and the upper chamber is likely to finalise the appointment procedure by April 23.

The court's selection committee on Tuesday nominated the four candidates, comprising Justice permanent secretary Jaral Pakdeethanakul, Appeal Court senior judge Wasant Soipisut and two retired diplomats, Supoj Kaimook and Chalermphol Ekuru.
