EGAT campaigns for theft prevention

Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) on Thursday unveiled the "Thais love transmission lines" campaign, in response to the massive stealing of screws and power transmission lines nationwide for years. Recently, a major power post collapsed due to the stealing which resulted in disrupted transmission.

Sombat Santijaree, governor of EGAT, said under the campaign, Egat will work closely with police and the Interior Department which supervises nationwide second-hand shops.

"The campaign is meant to raise cooperation from people from all levels to prevent the incidents which could damage the equipment, transmission lines, and power posts," he said.
