Siriporn, nicknamed the "Female Samson" by the local press, has given the rights to her life story to Women In Focus Production Inc for an undisclosed amount of money in the hope that her triumph over a life of crime will be turned into a Hollywood movie.
"I read about Samson in many newspapers and thought her story would be a good way to broaden the image of Thai women," said Niramol Sriyanond, the film producer for Women in Focus Production.
Siriporn, 24, was imprisoned in 2000 on charges of trafficking methamphetamines. While in prison she started training as a boxer as part of the Corrections Department's effort to teach young inmates new skills.
"I want to thank the director-general of the Corrections Department who gave me a new life," Siriporn told a press conference in Bangkok, after signing her life story away.
On April 3 last year, while still on probation, Siriporn won the women's World Boxing Championship (WBC) light fly-weight title in a fight staged at the Tanyaburi Women's Prison.
She has successfully defended her title twice since the April fight and last December was named WBC Goodwill Ambassador.
Siriporn is scheduled to defend her title in April in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, against Japanese challenger Kayako Ebata.//dpa
