No hikes in bus fares

Deputy Transport Minister Songsak Thongsri insisted that the government has no policy to approve the hike in public bus fares.

Though, Songsak said after the meeting with the central transport control committee that the issue is upto the committee.

Operators of Bangkok and provincial buses have asked for an increase in fares, following the hikes in diesel oil prices.

Meanwhile, Songsak on Tuesday also instructed Airports of Thailand's board of directors to increase productivity.

He said that before the coup, AOT paid dividend of Bt2 per share, but while Saprang Kalayanamitr chaired the board, AOT's dividend was only 40 satang per share.

"AOT's dividend payout ratio should be at least B2 per share," he said, adding that the board should come up with plans to boost the productivity.
