Reflections Rooms - the popular boutique hotel where every room has a different artsy design - has relocated from Bangkok's Soi Aree to a shoal of former shophouses on Pradiphat Road. But it's just as crazy as ever.
The exterior buildings are decked out in shocking pink and blue. So far 17 rooms are ready for guests and the other 27 should be completed soon.
The hotel's owner, Anusorn Ngernyuang, has gone for a "recy¬cled" concept this time. The light bulbs, for instance, are covered with used plastic milk bottles, and the rooms are mainly furnished with handmedowns donated to Wat Suankaew for resale.
There are rooms to suit everyone's taste, ranging from the lurid and Warholesque to the simple countrycottage look. And guests who become attached to the bed, chairs or other decor can arrange to buy them.
Artists, architects, fashion designers and photographers have taken turns showing off their creativity in room design. They include established artists ML Chiratorn Chirapravati, Sakwut Wisesmanee, Jitsing Somboon and Kongpat Sakdapitak, and rookies Bodin Apiman, Prawit Sawatvipachai and actresses Lalita "Miew" Sasiprapa and Piyada "Aom" Akaraseranee.
Prices run from Bt1,850 to Bt3,450 a night, inclusive of break¬fast.
The new Reflections Rooms is on Phya Thai Road between Pradiphat Sois 18 and 20. Call (02) 270 3344 or visit www.ReflectionsThai.com.

Anusorn Ngernyuang is also a noted product designer who's done well by kitsch - designs that are so bad they're good.
His latest line "Trash Chic" offers home decor and accessories made from vividly dyed fertiliser sacks - luggage, handbags, stools, beanbags, aprons and wallets, all available in the hotel's lobby.
He also recently opened a 14room seaside resort called Lumra in Baan Krood district of Prachuap Khiri Khan. Unlike the jazzy Reflections, though, its decor is simple and natural.
