Swatch upbeat about Breguet growth

Swatch Group Trading (Thailand) expects its luxury watch brand Breguet to achieve 30-per-cent sales growth this year.

The recent political uncertainty has not been a major concern for the local subsidiary of the Swiss watch manufacturer as it has already seen a 30-per-cent increase in sales during the first quarter compared to the same period last year.

The company's main concern is the strengthening baht, which it feels is too high compared to the Hong Kong dollar.

Managing director Christophe Viguerie said the disparity could encourage potential customers to fly to Hong Kong to buy premium watches instead of purchasing them here.
