Now she has become the first female executive from financial institutions in Thailand to receive the Asian Banker Achievement Award for Women in the Financial Services Industry.
The Asian Banker searched for the most successful leaders in the Asian finance and banking industry.
According to the magazine, Kannikar is a prominent financier and visionary leader playing a vital role in gearing up SCB to become the premier universal bank through integrated synergies among SCB Group subsidiaries.
"Her dynamic vision has brought significant growth to the corporate, SME and retail businesses of the bank with consistent excellent performance, with SCB demonstrating dramatic progress by becoming the third-largest bank in Thailand in terms of asset growth, with the largest branch and ATM network in Thailand," The Asian Banker said.
Award recipients were evaluated through a vigorous selection process conducted by a distinguished panel of global advisers led by David Eldon, chairman of the board of directors of Dubai International Financial Centre Authority and former chairman of HSBC Asia Pacific, and Cesar Virata, corporate vice-chairman of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation and former prime minister of the Philippines.
Kannikar's award is among the most prestigious awards for leadership achievement in the Asia-Pacific region.
The awards ceremony was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Sunday, with the support of the Vietnam Banks Association.
This good publicity is a boost for SCB after earlier negative news about the resignation of the board members and president of its subsidiary SCB Securities.
