The move follows a structural change in its global shareholding.
It has also been studying investment in new assembly plants in Thailand for non-lighting products, such as switching gears, electrical cables and electric fans.
The company has added a Product Department and a Marketing Department, in order to prepare for penetration into the non-lighting markets, said Poomthep Malakul, general manager for Asia.
The Thai branch has also been given responsibility for the company's operations in Laos, Burma, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Nepal, Vietnam, Brunei and Sri Lanka.
This follows sale of a 40-per-cent stake in the German parent company to Havells (India), a major manufacturer of consumer-electronic goods, in preparation for expansion into non-lighting electrical products.
The company is now planning to enter many large export markets in which its new Indian parent already operates.
