McLaren terminates contract of designer Coughlan

Coughlan, who was suspended in July upon the discovery of Ferrari documents at his house, could not be fired sooner due to legal issues, a McLaren spokeswoman told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa Friday on the sidelines of the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park in Melbourne.

 McLaren's chief designer received stolen technical information from Ferrari's Nigel Stepney, who was immediately fired by Ferrari. 

   As a result of the scandal McLaren was stripped of all their 2007 Constructors' Championship points and handed a 100 million US dollar fine by the FIA.
