McLaren moved up to fifth in the Melbourne F1 paddock

Melbourne (dpa) - The McLaren-Mercedes Formula One will not be placed at the end of the pitlane for this weekend's season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.



McLaren were supposed to be housed in the last garage after being stripped of all their constructors' points last season because of the F1 spying scandal.

 But the team of Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen took the fifth garage at Albert Park Tuesday. Motorsport's ruling body FIA has yet to explain the decision although it is believed to be because it was considered impractical for McLaren's massive team to be placed at the end of the pitlane.
