EC sets to rule on the dissolution of two coalition parties

The Election Commission will on Tuesday review the investigative report which recommends for the dissolution of two coalition parties, Chart Thai and Matchima Thipataya, EC member Prapun Naigowit said on Wednesday.

"The EC's ruling is not expected to please everyone and will rely on the legal basis in drawing the conclusion," he said.

The five EC members will likely factor in the factual evidence as well as political implications in forming their opinions, he added.

He refused to speculate whether the EC would agree, or disagree, with the investigative panel.

The investigative panel reached an unanimous decision on Tuesday that the two coalition parties were linked to electoral fraud involving two party executives who were disqualified from the December 23 election.
