PTT to move into LNG trading business

PTT will move into the liquefied natural gas (LNG) trading business as part of its plan to boost its overseas revenue to 20 per cent by 2011 when its revenue target is Bt2 trillion.

   On expected huge demand, LNG could be an energy commodity where buyers do not need to solely contact producers, said PTT president Prasert Bunsumpun.

   The company also plans to jointly invest in LNG production overseas, including Iran. 

 Bid to bring down pig feed tariff temporarily

An Internal Trade Department subcommittee will decide tomorrow whether to bring down the import tariff for pig feed temporarily to zero to 2 per cent, from 4 per cent.

   Director-general Yangyong Phuangrach said the tariff cut would immediately lower production costs and decrease surging pork prices.

Loan traffic expected to rise in first quarter

Financial institutions see consumer and corporate loans continuing to pick up this quarter, thanks to the recovery of consumer and business confidence as political conditions improve. However, they have expressed concern about loan quality, particularly for the export and household sectors, reports a Bank of Thailand survey.
