D1 chief executive officer Jrerat Pingclasai did not specify the name of the target company, but a brokerage source said it is thought to be 124 Communications. Nimitz Modrakee, CEO of 124, confirmed that he had held talks with D1, which is one of 9 parties that have expressed interest in the company.
Jrerat told reporters yesterday that the company is prepared to take over an entertainment company listed in the Market for Alternative Investment and expected the deal to be sealed next month, Jrerat said.
"It is a friendly takeover, we have met with the major shareholders," he said, adding that the acquisition would cost Bt45 million.
D1 plans to be the majority shareholder in the company, which would be restructured as a holding company. Jrerat said the target company operates in the entertainment sector, which D1 plans to make its core business.
