Midyear military reshuffle complete, PreCadet Class 10 reinstated

The mid-year military reshuffle has complete in accordance with the requirements of the armed forces and should not be politicised because of the reinstatement of many officers from PreCadet Class 10, seen as allies of the Thaksin Shinawatra government, Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal Chalit Pukbhasuk said on Monday.

"Pre-Cadet Class 10 officers are not a problem of the military but a part of the armed forces and they will receive job assignments in their career ladder to ensure the continuity of military leadership," he said.

He said it was in contrary to good personnel management if the officers were to be denied their career growth.

He added that military leaders designed the job rotations to pave way for the annual lineup, scheduled for October, to replace retired generals.

Prime Minister and Defence Minister Samak Sundaravej has agreed to the rotations as proposed by the armed forces, he said.

Many Pre-Cadet Class 10 officers have been sidelined following the coup in 2006.
