Glow unit caught on smoke

Glow Energy would see no disruption in supplying electricity and steam to industrial plants, following the sudden stoppage of a generating unit, said Ayudhya Securities.

Smoke was seen over the power unit 1, with capacity of generating 40 MW of power and 70 tonnes per hour of steam yesterday which forced Glow Energy to shut down the unit. It is estimated that the unit would take 3-5 days to cool down and resume operations.

"With back-up system, Glow would not see any disruption of service. The unit contributes only 2.3 per cent of total generating capacity of 1,709 MW and 7.2 per cent of steam capacity of 968 tonnes per hour," the securities house said.

If the insurance company would shoulder the damage depends on the cause of the smoke.
