Additional stimulus policies planned

Thai government has prepared to launch six to seven more sets of policies, aside from the tax package announced earlier this month, said Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee.

"To ensure continued economic growth, aside from the package announced in March, about six to seven sets of policies would be announced later on with emphasis on income boosting and higher protection to enterprises for long-term recovery," he told reporters.

Surapong also said that Austrian firms are interested in investing in health-related mega-projects in Thailand.

After the meeting with Austrian economics minister Martin Bartenstein, Surapong said the private companies are keen in medical equipment while Thailand plans to invest Bt40-Bt50 billion in health projects.

Surapong also noted that the mega-project committee on transportation will meet on Wednesday, where related agencies would present their work plans and the funding issue would be discussed for more clarity.

He asserted that the diversion of money from the Oil Fund from financing mass transit development to subsidise diesel price would be termporary.
