The Straits Times reported yesterday the transaction raised his deemed stake to 9.53 billion shares, or 37.96 per cent of issued share capital. Charoen also has a direct interest of 3.16 billion shares, or 12.57 per cent of ThaiBev.
Charoen has been a frequent buyer of ThaiBev stock of late. In January he scooped up more than 75 million shares at between 23.90 Singaporean dollars (Bt548) and S$25.30.

ShinSat and Shin Corp to be renamed
A Shin Satellite executive attributed the company's name change to Thaicom to Shin Group's attempt to shed its links with the Shinawatra family.
Shin Corp is also planning to rename itself, he said, pending shareholder approval.
ShinSat confirmed the Indian government had allowed it to open an iPSTAR satellite gateway in India to provide a broadband Internet service.

Big profit rise for Central Plaza
Central Plaza Hotel's net profit last year rose 28 per cent to Bt397 million from Bt310 million in 2006.
Revenue increased by 6.5 per cent to Bt7.2 billion from Bt6.7 billion in 2006 on 11.4-per-cent growth in its hotel business.
Its fast service restaurant revenue grew 3.5 per cent to Bt4.3 billion compared to Bt2.9 billion in 2006. - The Nation
