Real Madrid fans worried about Liga after Euro elimination

Madrid- The fans of Real Madrid are worried about their team's Liga performances being affected by their elimination from European competition.

On Wednesday Real crashed out of the Champions League by losing 2-1 at home to well-organised AS Roma.

Now the "madridista" fans are concerned that the European setback will adversely effect their team's performances in the Spanish Liga.

An online poll in Madrid sports daily Marca - which is mostly read by Real fans - on Thursday asks the question "Do you believe that that Real Madrid will be affected in La Liga by the elimination from the Champions League?"

By Thursday morning 18,783 votes had been registered, with 68.62 per cent voting "yes" and only 31.38 voting "no".

Leaders Real are five points ahead of second-placed Barcelona. On Saturday they will have to face fifth-placed Espanyol without injury victims Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, Marcelo, Christoph Metzelder, Michel Salgado and Javier Saviola.
