Bhanapot's petition rejected

The Supreme Administrative Court has rejected a petition filed by Bhanapot Damapong, the brotherinlaw of expremier Thaksin Shinawatra, against the Assets Examination Committee for allegedly ordered a freeze on Bhanapot's assets with no authority.

The court said that it has no jurisdiction over the case as the AEC order was a criminalcode procedure, and not an administrative action, according to a court document released Thursday.

The ruling suggested that the plaintiff bring his case to an ordinary court of justice.

In March last year, Bhanapot filed his case with the Central Administrative Court, saying the AEC's order had caused damage to his businesses. However, the court in last May rejected the petition on similar arguments cited by the higher court.

Bhanapot's lawyer Pisit Ponrakkhet, said Thursday that the legal team would discuss about bring the case to the Criminal Court.
